As an animated film-maker, Vergine Keaton’s interest in opera stems from its ability to engage all the senses by creating its own sensorial and emotional space-time. Her video triptych combines mythology with research into Dante’s Divine Comedy. Its title is taken from the words inscribed above the gates of hell: Abandon hope all ye who enter here. It is a poetic reflection on what it means to penetrate a mystery, or the entrails of the earth, as well as the decomposition and recomposition of images - themes explored in previous works - with shapes, sounds, and colors acting in counterpoint.
