"Jeux de boules" is a French game with the objective to cast heavy balls close to a small target ball. The balls have decorative embossments. "Boule" is also a function inside a 3D program to unite, subtract or intersect three dimensional objects. Inspired by the design of the French ballgame, the piece "Boule" transforms looping graphic patterns into an arrangement of three dimensional objects.The sound design mirrors this visual aspect by evolving and looping musical patterns that move forward without ever arriving. The unsteady timing of these loops reflects the angles of the geometrical shapes in the animation.
This work has been created to celebrate 20 years of PFA Studio's collaboration with Dalbin.
