Statement
Heat Signature is a technical and intuitive process of organic world building; a terraformed site of reflection mapping and displacement. It's embracing the art of transformation, using morphology as its medium, wielding the polymerized sheets of Mylar as musings of complexity. It’s geology redrafted as a spiritual field.

Technique
The artist overlays their photographic images as HDR domes and illuminates the reflective surface of digital mylar, and then further manipulates and augments the polymer to give a sense of displacement. What is produced is both stalwart and fluid, blossoming with jagged edges as if something that you are positive is dormant, is very clearly…alive. What is woven in the process is a spectral story of tectonic shifts wherein the viewer is thrust into a terraformed site of reflection mapping and displacement.

Intention
The godly act of conversion on a horizon line or a mountain range is eternally gradual. Epochs of erosion etching out the landscape. In Mylar, that timeline is toyed with, as if the artist were using light, topography, altitude and elevation, even time… as clay. The emotional byproduct of this process is a volcanic range of respiration. A series of peaks, valleys, and spires that may feel like a scuff on the earth’s crust but now, given a pulse, feels like a dance or incubation within the womb of the landscape. It seems to erode, freeze, burn, melt, turn to ash, rust, calcify, oxidize. There is elemental, almost divine change afoot in Mylar, and all at once it is majestic, and immersive. The process looks beyond the occupation of Mylar as a strictly tensile, reflective material and recasts it as an epically organic landscape that, when acted up on with spectral light and photography, is energized with an alchemist’s vibration. The experience is at once thoroughly grounded, angular, harsh and intense. But then it takes a step over a severe threshold into a seemingly global event wherein perception is questioned, dismantled, assembled and then given a new lens. This is the art of transformation, using morphology as its medium, and in this instance, wielding the polymerized sheets as a meditation. Not only is the image and light, the material displaced, but the very emotional experience is an aggressively rhythmic displacement of how you perceive depth, texture, illumination, the natural geometry of an earth bound landscape.Geology is redrafted as a spiritual field. It is super…natural, but not in the ghostly sense, more in the powerful, high octane fusing potential of rock, mineral, and the other elements. A reflective surface is distorted and sculpted so that its very purpose - to mirror - is corrupted, and in that corruption there is a new clarity.
